Case study of Surendra Jani


A boy child Surendra Jani of 10yrs old belongs from Khondha Community of ST Caste, residing with his parent’s father Hari Jani, Mother Alme Jani, two brothers and one sister at Jholaguda village of Mathalput Panchayat, Koraput. Jholaguda is 50 KM afar from District Head Quarter Koraput having 21 Households of ST families.  There is no good roadway to the village situated in between the valleys having no electricity, neither a school nor an Anganwadi Center (AWC) as it is a hamlet village of Kudmul revenue village. Community is ignorant to many of government facilities; the main income sources are cultivation and daily labour.

SOVA- Stories Of changeSurendra is the youngest in his family he was regular to school upto class IIIrd at Mathalput Upper Primary School that is 5 KM afar from his village. Any how he crossed class III but later at upper class he challenges to understand the teacher’s language. And every so often teachers use to get irritate of him because of his slow learning and gets canning. These all state of affairs made him uninterested to go to school. Since past 2years he is neither more going to school nor any one is interested to pay attention for his schooling. These days engage in grazing cattle’s and helping his parents in the domestic work.
