The general health status of the tribal communities in Odisha is abysmally poor.

Tribals' own traditional myths and misperceptions prevent many from accessing available healthcare services. Those who do visit state-run institutions encounter poor quality of service and lack of resources. The high costs of private clinics make proper healthcare practically inaccessible for the majority of marginalized people in Koraput.

The result? Tribals suffer from ill health and deaths that are otherwise easily preventable. Koraput has one of the highest malnutrition and child mortality rates in India. Poor sanitation, unsafe drinking water, and high rates of malaria only worsen the situation.

Our goal is not only to increase access to proper healthcare services and medicine, but to provide education that changes attitudes and behaviors so tribals actively choose to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
